Dans le commerce B2B, le client redevient roi

(ePurchasing – In B2B trade, the customer becomes the king again)
Authors: Dr Eberhard Aust, Christophe Baron, Wolfe W. Diener, Jean-Jacques Durante and Peter Engelhardt.
Publisher: Oliver Lüth.
Numerous manufacturers still haven’t taken full advantage of the potential offered by the new technologies, especially in terms of cost reduction and increased productivity.
And yet eSourcing solutions, which radically transform how purchasing needs are defined and suppliers are selected, and ePurchasing tools, which help decrease administrative costs and reduce procurement channel lead-times by placing and monitoring orders on the Internet, constitute powerful levers today to optimize companies’ profits and value.
Consequently, “ePurchasing – Dans le commerce B2B, le client redevient roi” sets out to present the main ePurchasing solutions available on the market: electronic calls for tenders, on-line catalogue systems, purchasing dedicated marketplaces and websites; as well as their main strengths and weaknesses.

Studies

Benchmarking study on the purchasing function’s efficiency and best practices in Germany
SynerTrade conducted this study in collaboration with Bundesverband Materialwirtschaft, Einkauf und Logistik e.V. (BME). The study was carried out with the Management, Financial and Purchasing teams in 94 German companies from the automobile, metallurgy, electronics, building, retail and services industries.  These companies were questioned about their purchasing department’s organization and processes in order to understand the strengths and weaknesses and to identify the areas for improvement. The results of this study show that purchases of large and medium-size companies still haven’t taken advantage of all of the existing cost reduction levers (e.g.: in particular the implementation of eSourcing and eProcurement solutions).

Study on purchasing performance measurement in France
In May 2004, SynerTrade conducted a study in France on purchasing performance measurement with a sample of 100 Purchasing Directors in companies with turnover of more than 500 million Euros, all industries taken into account. The findings of this study show:
Companies follow purchasing performance measurement closely.
Purchasing performance measurement is comprised of quite different types of indicators.
The importance attached to indicators varies based on the industry.
Purchasing performance measurement still doesn’t have efficient information systems.
